| Owner: James Douglas, 14th Earl of Morton
Believed to have been imported by Sir Everard Fawkener, the British ambassador to Constantinople from 1737 to 1744, passing into the hands of James Douglas, 14th Earl of Morton (after whom Captain James Cook named Moreton Bay in Queensland, Australia)
Morton's Arabian has three recorded progeny, a son of no account and two daughters, through one of which much of Family 8 descends, branches 8-c, 8-d, 8-g, 8-h and 8-k evolving from her;
the other daughter is the dam of Oscar (by Young Snip) which, when exported to Virginia in 1767, proves to be a quite successful broodmare sire
